All about Dental Hygiene Educators Canada

Dental Hygiene Educators Canada was officially established in June 2000. Although we are a fledgling organization, we have grown stronger every year as we become recognized by dental associations and dental hygiene organizations nationally and internationally. The objectives of DHEC are to:

• foster excellence in teaching, learning and educational research
• promote evidence-based dental hygiene education
• promote opportunities for the continuing professional development of dental hygiene educators, and
• facilitate the exchange of information and expertise to develop dental hygiene education nationally and internationally

The role of dental hygiene educators is becoming critically important. Changes to Canada's health care system, the rapid progression of scientific and technical knowledge, and increasing political threats, all mean that dental hygiene educators must ensure that new members of the profession are fully able to cope in this new environment of practice.
