Dental Hygiene Educators Canada/
Éducateurs en Hygiène dentaire du Canada was officially established in June 2000. DHEC/EHDC is the only organization in Canada that
speaks on behalf of dental hygiene educators. The objects of the association are:
- Foster excellence in teaching and learning.
- Promote evidence-based dental hygiene education.
- Facilitate the exchange of information and expertise to develop dental hygiene education
in Canada.
- Promote inter-professional alliances with national and international education and health
organizations.

Outcomes for Canadian Dental Hygiene Education 2004
In 2001 Dental Hygiene Educators Canada / Éducateurs en Hygiène dentaire du
Canada (DHEC / EHDC) became involved in furthering dental hygiene education by conducting a study directed towards the
articulation of learning outcomes for Canadian dental hygiene education at the diploma and baccalaureate level. A new national education learning
outcomes/competency profile is in progress. Updates will be posted when available.
